There are three possible procedures for receiving medical treatment:
- Non-emergency/Non-precertification: Non-emergency doctor's visit, laboratory exam and certain tests (X-Rays) within the network. You have to let the company know 3 hours beforehand so they can issue a guarantee of payment. Otherwise, you can go to the doctor and file a claim to be reimbursed.
- Precertification: There are some treatments and procedures that need to be precertificated. That is, you need to let the insurance company know beforehand so they can review the case. Learn more about this here.
- Emergency: For any condition that may be life-threatening. You should go to the closest hospital or medical provider. You should let the insurance company know about this within 48 hours.
